So Is Rory Gonna Play In The PGA Championship? This Video Of Him Working Out Is Encouraging
Hold the fucking phone. So Rory’s gonna play in the PGA Championship, right? Not only is he dancing around with medicine balls but the rumor is that he’s gonna play a practice round at Whistling Straits some time soon. That’s great news and all because he could defend his title but it feels like we were misled. When he posted that Instagram of his injury it sounded like the world’s #1 might never walk again. He was laid up on his couch with a burrito cast watching tennis. Ts and Ps were offered and prayers were sent up. The description of his injury was, and I wrote, “total rupture of left ATFL ankle ligament and associated joint capsule damage.” That sounds like his ankle died.
After hearing that diagnosis I pictured this
His ankle completely severed from the rest of his body. That’s what I envisioned. There was talk of him being out the rest of the year, let alone being able to play in the final major of the season. Instead he’s back in the gym just a few weeks later. This feels like one of those times where we got tricked by the medical description of an injury when in fact it was just a twisted ankle. Like if somebody said their capillaries and venules were damaged due to a trauma that allowed blood to hemorrhage into their intestinal tissue you’d think they were dying. When in reality that’s the medical description of a bruise. The medical description makes it sound way way way worse. Again, this is good news because Rory obviously puts asses in the seats and is fun to watch. Why else would he post that video a week out from Whistling Straits? Now if he doesn’t play we’ll have no choice but to call him a pussy.
